It saddens me to give this book three stars*, because I loved
the first two in this series. However, this one just didn't do it for me. It was too angsty, and I didn't care for Mara for most of the book. Ms. MacLean tried to make her sympathetic by giving her an orphanage to run and a sad backstory, but even that wasn't enough.
I'm hoping this book was a momentary hiccup and book four will return to awesomeness.
*Honestly, the rating probably would've been 2 or 2.5 if I didn't love the other books in this series so much.
